Cabinet Clears MoU between India and Croatia

The union cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave its approval to the Memorandum of understanding (MoU) between India and Croatia in the field of tourism. 

The MoU was signed between the two nations on 26 March, during the visit of President Ram Nath Kovind to Croatia. This agreement would facilitate cooperation between the countries in the field of tourism.

The Honourable President in his address to the business representatives of India and Croatia said that more and more Indians are becoming familiar with what Croatia has to offer “Croatia’s popularity in India has increased manifold following Croatian team’s outstanding performance in the FIFA World Cup last year. Croatia’s natural beauty and friendliness are attractions no less, and Indian tourists have started to visit this beautiful country in large numbers. These exchanges and understanding would be most helpful for enhancing two-way business collaborations. Croatia attracted nearly 19 million tourists last year,” said Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India.

The president’s visit is particularly fruitful as several other agreements in the field of sports and cultural interaction too was inked. A MoU was also signed between the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the University of Zagreb for capacity building in sports.

Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) also signed an MOU with University of Zagreb for establishing a Chair for Sanskrit and Hindi at the University.
