Cyclone Kyarr: Red alert in Coastal districts of Maharashtra

India Meteorological Department(IMD) has warned that the cyclonic storm Kyarr is likely to develop into a severe cyclonic storm within the next 24 hours.

The speed of gale wind is steadily rising currently it is 110 kmph over the East-central Arabian Sea, the speed is likely to reach 120-130 kmph gusting to 145 kmph on October 26. While coastal districts of Karnataka, South Konkan and Goa are predicted to recieve light to moderate rainfall regions of north Konkan are likely to recive heavy rains within the next 12 hours.

Goa University has cancelled all examinations scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

An alarm has also been sounded in Dakshin, Uttara Kannada and Udupi  districts of Karnataka as these regions are likely to receive heavy rainfall.

Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that cyclonic storm Kyarr is likely to cause heavy to extremely heavy rains in coastal districts of Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri in Maharashtra within the next 12 hours besides causing strong winds.

As per the Met department deep depression(in the Arabian Sea) intensified into cyclonic storm Kyarr during early hours of October 25. Kyarr is highly likely to intensify into a very severe category during the next 12 hours.
