2020 Paragliding World Cup to Be Held in Mizoram

Mizoram will host the ‘Para-Gliding Accuracy World Cup’ in 2020, the event is scheduled to be held from February 10 to 16, 2020.

This was declared by Mizoram Tourism minister, Robert Romawia at a a press conference in Serchhip.

Romawia informed that around 130 para-gliders from around the world and 20 officials will take part at the event which would be held in Serchhip’s  Dawngzawl.

Serchhip had hosted the Para-gliding pre World Cup event in 2018 where 9 countries had participated.

Romawia expressed his hope that the event would attract tourists across India and abroad giving impetus to the state’s tourism industry.

Romawia said that the tourism department would be organising Mizoram’s ‘grand festival’ simultaneously with world cup so as to showcase Mizoram’s culture. The grand festival will feature ethnic cuisine, dances and arts and plenty of entertainment programmes so as to highlight what Mizoram has to offer.

He explained that the Paragliding World Cup Association had already sent technical experts to study the location at Serchhip. The association  has confirmed it as an excellent site for para-gliding in terms of wind speed and topography.
