Ex Goa deputy CM Francis D’Souza

Former deputy Chief Minister of Goa Francis D’Souza passed away at a hospital in US yesterday evening. He was 64 and getting treatment after cancer surgery in US at a private hospital. After his death the strength of BJP in the 40-member Goa assembly has dropped down to 13.

Narendra Sawaikar, south Goa BJP lawmaker said that he became very sad by this death news. He gave sympathies to his family and prayed the peace be fell on the departed soul. He added we have lost an iconic leader.

Goa BJP spokesperson Damodar Naik expressed his grief by saying that the party has lost an iconic leader who had started his carrier from a councilor and became a deputy chief minister of Goa.

D’Souza as a Goa congress party candidate won a seat to Goa Legislative Assembly in the year 1999 and then after joining the BJP he was elected to the assembly in years – 2002, 2007, 2012 and 2017 from Mapusa. In 2012, he became a deputy Chief Minister of Goa when BJP formed the government in Goa under Manohar Parrikar.
