Manipur Tourism conducted a roadshow for the 2019 edition of the Shirui Lily Festival and the Manipur Sangai Festival at the Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) held at Ahmedabad from 30th August to 1st September, 2019.
The Manipuri team consisted of Dr Yumnam Suraj Singh, Deputy Director, Department of Tourism, Dimitry Laishram and Bidyananda Hanjabam.
The team interacted with more than 2,000 visitors which included tour operators, MICE providers, potential investors and potential travelers at the event.
The Manipuri team highlighted the rich cultural heritage and the natural beauty of the state known as the ‘jewel of India”.
The team was conferred the TTF Excellence Award for Best Cultural Performance on the final day of the event.
A host of performances by the Manipuri contingent included the famous Raas Leela, Khamba Thoibi dance of the Moirang town, apart from the Lai Haraoba and the Kabui Naga dances.
Artistes adorned in Radha & Lord Krishna’s attires distributed promotional brochures and information on Manipur Sangai Festival and Shirui Lily Festival 2019 to the visitors at the event.
These artists in fancy attire proved to be a major crowd puller as visitors queued up to get selfies clicked with them.
Manipur receives the maximum number of tourists during the Manipur Sangai Festival and the Shirui Lily Festival every year. The Shirui Lily festival would be held from 15 October to 18 October this year. The Manipur Sangai Festival would be held between November 21 and 30 November this year.
Tourism in Manipur is witnessing a steady rise as domestic tourist inflow rose from 1,16,652 in 2010-11, to 1,64,483 2017-18 similarly, the foreign tourist inflow rose from a mere 431 in 2010-11 to 3,787 in 2017-18 .
The year 2018-19 recorded 1,66,032 domestic tourist arrivals and 9,794 FTA’s in Manipur.
