Several countries including Britain and Spain have suspended military exports to Turkey following its incursion into northeastern Syria.
British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab declared that no further export licences would be granted to Turkey for items which might be used in military operations in Syria. Spain, another major arms exporter to Turkey also announced a halt to sales of military material. The Spainish government also asked Turkey to end military operations. Sweden too announced it has halted exports of military equipment.
Meanwhile, Russia has announced it is patrolling the areas along the Syria-Turkey border where the army’s of the two countries are face to face.
Syrian forces moved into the area following a deal according to which regime troops were deployed in various Kurdish-controlled areas in north to protect the region from Turkish attacks.
