Protestors demand Sindhudesh

Thousands of Sindhis came out on the streets in Karachi to press for their rights and demand an independent home land for themselves. A massive protest rally was organised where Sindhi Nationalist leaders addressed thousands of people and took out a protest march starting from Gulshan -i- Hadeed and ending at Karachi Press Club. The protest was led by Sindhi national political party Jeay Sindh Quami Mahaz(JSQM) which has been raising a demand for an independent Sindhudesh. The concept of Sindhu Desh was given by late Sindhi politician GM Syed who was the founder of the Jeay Sindh Mahaz(JSM) in 1972 in 1995 the Jeay Sindh Mahak became Jiye Sindh Quami Mahaz(JSQM). November 18 was chosen because it was the 115th birth anniversary of the late GM Syed. Protestors were seen waving the Red Sindhudesh flag and Sunan Qureshi, the present Chairman of JSQM and other nationalist delivered fiery speeches  voicing the demand for an independent nation. The Sindhi Nationalist leaders described Sindh as a nation which is under occupation by Punjabi Pakistanis. They noted that the Sindhi language and culture was threatened due to ‘domination’ by outsiders an alleged that human rights violations by the government forces and exploitation of resources of Sindh was going on  abated. JSQM leaders were heavily critical of the Army for alleged abductions of Sindhi nationalists and human rights activists.
