Around 3 lakh people came out on the streets in Barcelona to protest the Spanish Government’s move to jail 9 separatist leaders.
The separatist crowds chanted independence slogans like “The Spanish flag, out!” and “Occupation forces, out!” and hurled multicolour plastic balls and marbles at the riot police did not respond to these provocation. Catalonia has witnessed regular protests since the October 14 Supreme Court verdict of jailing 9 separatist leaders the protests have also seen violence as masked demonstrators clashed with riot police.
Official figures claim that around 600 people have been injured in the protests, 367 of them being civilians and 289 police being police personnel.
