Seaplane services Planned for Tehri Lake

Uttarakhand government has signed a tripartite agreement with the the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Union Civil Aviation Ministry to start Seaplane services in Tehri lake. The state government hopes that these services would be commenced next year. The Tehri Lake is Asia’s largest man made lake and is a popular tourist destination as it offers a host of adventure activities like  Paragliding , Bandwagon Boat Ride,  Jet Speed Boar Ride, Water Skiing, Zorbing, and more.

The seaplane would operate between Tehri and Dehradun with a seating capasity of 12 to 20 people. The entire investment for the project would be borne by the Central government.

Uttarakhand Tourism also organizes the annual Tehri lake festival which is a 3 day water sports and cultural event. Adventure activities such as boating,water skiing, surfing, canoeing,  jet-skiing, banana rides, paragliding and river-rafting are a regular feature of the festival.

Cultural activities include  music performances, exotic folk dances, scintillating celebrity performances and grand fireworks, besides spectators can witness the incredible aerial skills of adventures experts.
