Janjehli to Become an eco-tourism destination

Janjehli in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district is planned to be developed as an eco-tourism destination in the country. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur expressed the state government’s intentions to develop it as one of the best eco-tourism destinations in the country while presiding over the closing ceremony of the Janjehli Tourism Festival 2019.  Janjehli has massive scope for the growth of tourism because of its pristine settings, and mesmerising natural beauty and pleasant weather.

Janjehli Tourism Festival 2019 is organised to showcase the rich cultural diversity and natural beauty of the region. He emphasized the that Himachal Pradesh has much more to offer apart from Manali, Kullu, Shimla, and Dharamshala and these need to be developed for realising their tourism potential. Development of regions that are less frequented by tourists would help releave the burden of those places that are already facing overcrowding and disorder due to over tourism, the minister mentioned.

Apart from developiung Janjehli as an eco-tourism spot other tourism development initiatives the state government includes the  development of Bir-Billing in Kangra district as a paragliding destination, developing Chanshal in Shimla district as a winter sports destination, developing Pong Dam in Kangra district into a water sports destination.

There are also plans to set up a rope way to the scenic Shikari Mata Temple located in Seraj valley of Mandi district.
