In what is the worst terror attack to strike New Zealand a total of 49 people were gunned down in two mosques in Christchurch. Three people have been apprehended in connection to the shooting and the prime accused and Australian National has been charged with murder. While 41 people were shot dead at the Al Noor mosque 7 others were killed at Linwood mosque, one of whom passed away on arrival at the hospital. The attackers live-streamed the massacre on social media as they shot the incident live with a head mounted camera. The video has since become viral on the net. Just prior to the attack a post on the site 8chan, which has a record of hate speech and racist content declared that the uploader is going to ” carry out an attack against the invaders”, reference to immigrants. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern described it as a terror attack.
