PM Modi meets Nobel Laureate Banerjee

Nobel Laureate Prof Abhijit Banerjee called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today. Prime Minister Modi in a tweet described his meeting with Banerjee as ‘excellent’ and wrote that he had extensive discussions with him on various subjects.

The Prime Minister also noted that Banerjee’s passion towards human empowerment is very much evident. He said India is proud of his accomplishments and wished him the best for his future endeavours.

Prof Abhijit Banerjee was jointly declared the winner of the 2019 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics along with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer. Prof Banerjee has researched extensively in the field of poverty alleviation.
