Kashmir received its first snowfall of the season as popular tourist destinations of Sonamarg and Gulmarg were covered in a blanket of snow. Temperature in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir witnessed a significant drop due to the snowfall at the higher reaches and also rainfall at the plains.
Winter season seems to be early this year as the temperatures during the last couple of days has remained couple of degrees below normal.
Snowfall is usually very good news for the union territory as this attracts large number of tourists however this may not be the case this year due to the situation prevailing situation situation. Separatist militants have targeted and killed people from other regions of India.
